"EUER TAG WIRD BESSER, WENN IHR DEN NEUEN SONG VON JAPANDROIDS GEHÖRT HABT" - Musikexpress.de

After playing the last of their 200 shows in more than 40 countries in support of their critically acclaimed 2012 album Celebration Rock,Japandroids took a much needed break to rest and recover after their last show in November of 2013. The band would not play again for three years. This month, they made their triumphant return to the stage, playing intimate shows in Vancouver, LA, Toronto, London and NYC, in which they treated fans to their favorites from Celebration Rock and Post-Nothing, and previewed a handful of new, unreleased songs. And today, the band has announced their much anticipated third album, Near To The Wild Heart Of Life, out worldwide on Anti- this January 27, 2017.

Japandroids also shared the first single, "Near To The Wild Heart Of Life". A special edition 7" also be available featuring a b-side cover of Talking Heads' "Love" Building on Fire" with purchase of pre-order.

Band : Gone Is Gone
Album : Echolocation

Label : Rise Records / Black Dune Records / BMG / ADA Warner
Bandwebsite : http://goneisgoneofficial.com/

Nach der im Sommer erscheinenden hochgelobten 8-Song EP, haben GONE IS GONE am 06.01.17 ihren Debüt-Longplayer "Echolocation" auf Rise Records/Black Dune Records/BMG/ADA Warner veröffentlicht.

GONE IS GONE sind:
Sänger/Bassist - Troy Sanders (Mastodon)
Gitarre - Troy Van Leeuwen (QOTSA)
Schlagzeug - Tony Hajjar (At The Drive In)
Gitarrist - Mike Zarin

Los Angeles, CA (October 3, 2016) - Three months after the release of their critically acclaimed eponymous EP, GONE IS GONE have announced a January 6th 2017 release for their full-length debut, ECHOLOCATION (Rise Records/Black Dune Records). Recorded at Sencit Studios in Los Angeles (with additional tracking at Casa De Leones Studios), ECHOLOCATION was produced by the band and mixed by Ken Andrews (Beck, A Perfect Circle) and follows the 8-song Gone Is Gone release, which drew coverage from a plethora of media outlets, including Pitchfork, Consequence of Sound, Billboard, NME, Stereogum andRolling Stone, who praised the record for "transcending with herculean heaviness." Asked about the evolution from the EP to ECHOLOCATION, Mike Zarin says, "We were able to expand on ideas that were explored early on and really build on them. By the time we got to working on the album, everything had clicked and we knew 'this is what this is going to be.' And that made a huge difference."

Band : Allman Brown
Album : 1000 Years
VÖ : 10.02.2017
Label : Allman Brown Production / The Orchard / Membran
Bandwebsite : www.facebook.com/AllmanBrownMusic

Mehrere Millionen Spotify Streams und Youtube-Clicks, Platz 2 in der Hype Machine Charts, unzählbare Cover Versionen und Plays in US TV Serien wie "Parenthood", "Reign" oder "Beauty And The Beast" , mit dem Song "Sons & Daughters" schaffte der Londoner Singer-Songwriter, wovon andere Musiker nur träumen.

"Sons and Daughters was the first song I felt truly proud of", sagt Brown, "It is honest, heartfelt and not afraid to be vulnerable. Seeing people all over the world respond to that means everything to me."

"I like variety. I needed to write a bigger song and Fires is what came out"

Band :Dool
Album : "Here Now, There Then"
VÖ : February 17, 2017
Label : Prophecy Records / Soulfood
Website : facebook.com/allthosewhowanderaredool/

Holland's most notorious rock musicians have gathered to form DOOL, a dark rock band featuring bassist Job van de Zande and drummer Micha Haring from celebrated cult rockers The Devil's Blood and the country's most infamous rock singer, the striking Ryanne van Dorst. Rounded out by guitarists Nick Polak (Gold) and Reinier Vermeulen (The New Media), DOOL radiates an undeniable raw energy and has created a distinct and dynamic sound right from the start. On the strength of its captivating debut single, "Oweynagat", and a red hot live performance at Roadburn 2016, DOOL has quickly become a hotly-tipped buzz band in underground circles.

DOOL's much anticipated debut album, Here Now, There Then, is set for release on February 17, 2017, and proves all advance praise to be more than justified. Recorded by producer Pieter Kloos (The Devil's Blood, Motorpsycho), Here Now, There Then is an album of supreme songwriting and remarkable musical diversity, blending classic hard rock, gothic pop and psychedelic metal in an ever-surprising manner. Carried by infinite, hypnotic guitar lines, DOOL takes the listener from dark caves, inhabited by ancient ghosts on its debut single "Oweynagat", to the deep abysses of a broken heart on cuts like "Death of Love". From the sensual and teasing ("Words on Paper"), to the imposing and ominous (the 10 minute epic "Vantablack"), DOOL hits every pressure point, striking with the deadly precision of a venomous asp.

"Here Now, There Then is about dreaming, ambition and will," says Ryanne van Dorst. "The album is about breaking boundaries and behavioral patterns while destroying stigmas. It is a mantra for whoever needs it and in any way one chooses to use it. It is the shadow lands between fantasy and reality. A fairy tale in a concrete background."

Dutch for "wandering", the sound of DOOL is a call to let oneself float freely and weather the storms of everyday life, taking flight into the wild unknown...all those who wander are DOOL.

Band : Staatspunkrott
Album : Choral vom Ende
VÖ : 03.03.2017
Label : People Like You Records

Band : Delicate Steve
Album : This is Steve
VÖ : 27.01.2017
Label : Anti
Bandwebsite : delicatesteve.com

When the world first met Delicate Steve in 2011, Steve Marion and the band he principled were an artfully crafted fiction. Tasked with introducing Wondervisions, Delicate Steve's beguiling debut record of highly evocative and emotionally concise guitar-driven songs, Luaka Bop, the seminal David Byrne-owned New York indie label, balked. There was the music to get to; itself essentially reference-less and unqualifiedly unique. But what of the guy who created it? The guitarist who wrote the whole thing, who played every instrument. An enormous unknown talent without an attendant backstory to match the spectral and boundless qualities of his music. Enter Chuck Klosterman. The celebrated writer was brought on to completely fabricate a biography based on a band and album he was asked not to listen to.

While the record racked up high praise from outlets including The New York Times and NPR, nearly everything music fans read about Delicate Steve was a fiction. Listeners were left to the music alone to determine who Steve was. As is often the case, some of the first people to recognize Delicate Steve's music were fellow artists who became vocal supporters, as the young guy from upstate New Jersey began to develop a growing fanbase in small New York clubs like Glasslands, Union Pool, and Mercury Lounge. Following the 2012 release of Positive Force, Delicate Steve had cornered the status of 'your favorite band's favorite band', as Steve himself became a fixture in and an on-demand collaborator among disparate scenes, players, and bands, making some of the most celebrated and forward thinking music today: Co-signs and work with David Byrne, Dirty Projectors, tUnE-yArDs, Mac DeMarco, Dr. Dog, and elder statesmen like Lee Ranaldo and Built to Spill. Likely the only guitarist alive who will cut records with Sondre Lerche and Death Grip's Zach Hill. Handpicked to open a sold out North American tour for Tame Impala. And most recently, providing guitar on Paul Simon's new record.

Band : Blaudzun
Album : Jupiter (Part II)
VÖ : 03.03.2017
Label : Glitterhouse / Indigo
Bandwebsite : www.blaudzun.com

I started writing songs for Jupiter Part II almost immediately after the last shows supporting Part I. It's been very stimulating, especially the pace in which I'm producing a record. There's always a sense of risk involved, and I really enjoy that" sagt Blaudzun. "Think of it as a fresh bottle of wine: the grapes that have been picked are immediately processed, with no time to ripe properly. At the moment, that's exactly how I'm approaching my songs. The transition between fledging ideas and finished compositions happens relatively quick."

Band: TSOL
Album: The Trigger Complex
VÖ: 27.01.2017
Label: Rise Records / BMG / ADA Warner
Website: https://www.facebook.com/TsolOfficial

Influential Southern California punk rock pioneers T.S.O.L. will make their awaited return in 2017 with a new record label and their 11th studio album. The band has announced today, they have signed with Rise Records and will release their highly anticipated album The Trigger Complex on January 27th.

T.S.O.L., short for True Sounds of Liberty, struck a nerve in the early 80’s with their defiant, politically charged self-titled debut EP. At the intersection of punk and gothic new wave, the band’s evolution of sound continued resulting in their critically heralded, full-length record Dance With Me (1981) as well as many other fan coveted albums, with various lineup changes and reunions along the way, that cemented their legacy in the punk scene as one of the most influential bands to come out of California.

Now, nearly four decades later, original members Ron Emory, Mike Roche and Jack Grisham have returned to creative heights with one of their most inspired albums in decades with The Trigger Complex. Comprised of thirteen songs, the band’s new record runs the gamut of charging punk anthems to brooding rock songs that will no doubt please listeners. Given the country’s turbulent, divisive political climate it could not be better timing for the return of one of punk’s most important and vocal bands.

"It's a great time to be making music; to have a voice that can be heard,” says Grisham. “I'm glad that things look bleak. Political turmoil breeds strength as well as strife. This record allows us to remind people that they aren't alone. We're here.”

Band : Tift Merritt
Album : Stitch of the World
VÖ : 27.01.2017
Label : Yep Roc Records
Bandwebsite : www.tiftmerritt.com

As 2015 began, I had somehow been on the road for the fastest, longest two years of my life. I had kicked the tires hard touring in support of my album Traveling Alone. I had recorded and toured with classical pianist Simone Dinnerstein. My friend Andrew Bird asked me to be in his old time band the Hands of Glory, so I pretended I was a member of the Carter family on guitar, and I watched him like a hawk to make sure he felt fully free; singing harmony with Andrew is not unlike flying. Suddenly, I was turning 40, getting divorced, and scared out of my mind. So I decided to take a year off the road to see what would happen to me if I just stopped touring... On a friend's ranch in Marfa, Texas, in the middle of the high plains without a car headlight in sight, I did just that, and when I did, I started to do what I always do: the humble work of marking life by writing.

On the ranch, I wrote about the long straight roads in west Texas: the ones that make sense, that make you feel like what is behind you is indeed behind you and that good things are up ahead. 'Wait For Me' is a wish that life would run like that. Watching the ranch hands keep their daily routine, I wrote about keeping my own head down, pressing on, and the way that love persists and pushes forward no matter what happens, 'Love Soldiers On.' I watched birds learning to fly and bathe in the driveway dust at dusk in the front yard and wrote 'Icarus' about what they taught me. In my California cabin, I wrote every morning and hiked every afternoon, up the mountains to the East and along the rocky coast, farther than I had ever hiked, one exhausted foot after the other. 'Heartache is an Uphill Climb' began in the red mud on one particularly impossible incline. Once, having hiked farther than I realized, dark fell on me. The white lilies in a meadow began to glow like evening dresses as the moon rose in the changing light. 'Proclamation Bones' is a tribute to that unexpected beauty, to nature's secret nightlife. On return to NYC with Raymond Carver's All of Us: The Collected Poems in hand, his poem 'My Boat' leapt up like lightning; it wanted to be sung. In a hungover moment of joy coming out of a subway, 'Something Came Over Me' seeded itself. And the heavy sadness of memory washing over me as I looked out at the East River became 'Eastern Light'...

Band : Summer Moon
Album : With You Tonight
VÖ : 24.02.2017
Label : DTF Records/Membran
Website : www.summermoondband.com

"The Strokes' Nikolai Fraiture leads New York underground supergroup Summer Moon, whose first song sounded like it'd been beamed from the future. 'With You Tonight', however, sounds more like the quartet have been sitting by azure seas, sipping cocktails from coconut shells. There are hints of New Order to its electro-funk undertones, alongside the sunny, trebly guitars of Men At Work's 'Down Under' - an odd, but brilliant, combination." NME

"... upbeat, danceable tracks with strong basslines and a slightly futuristic-meets-post punk vibe." Vice

"The song is a breezy bit of electro-funk, an island of sun-doused guitars and plucky percussion." Consequence Of Sound

Band : Chuck Prophet
Album : BOBBY FULLER DIED FOR YOUR SINS
VÖ : 10.02.2017
Label : Yep Roc Records
Bandwebsite : chuckprophet.com

Chuck Prophet describes his new disc BOBBY FULLER DIED FOR YOUR SINS as "California Noir." He says, "the state has always represented the Golden Dream, and it's the tension between romance and reality that lurks underneath the surface in all noir films and paperbacks, and that connects these songs. Doomed love, inconsolable loneliness, rags to riches to rags again, and fast-paced violence are always on the menu on the Left Coast."
Who is Bobby Fuller? He's the star of the ultimate Rock and Roll Babylon feel-bad story.

The title track came out of an obsession Prophet shares with co-conspirator klipschutz. Prophet explains, "One day we were sitting in my so-called office South of Market listening to LPs, when out of frustration -I picked up a guitar and shouted, 'I hear that record crackle, the needle skips and jumps!' and klipschutz shot back, '"Bobby Fuller died for your sins!'"
One thing led to another, and ten months later he found himself at the legendary Hyde St. Studios in the heart of the Tenderloin "slaving over a hot two-inch tape machine, cutting tracks with Brad Jones, Paul Q. Kolderie, and Matt Winegar riding herd." And pumping it all into the echo chamber. No computer in sight and two-inch tape boxes stacked up to the ceiling.

Prophet realizes that the title track makes a heavy claim, and laughs at the suggestion it might shine new light on the mystery long surrounding Bobby Fuller's early demise. Fuller, who migrated from El Paso to L.A. in the early 1960s, has been described as "a greaser in a world of Beach Boy bangs and Beatle boots, hopelessly out of step with the times." Found dead in his car at the age of 23, to a devoted coterie of fans, old and new, he'll always remain the skinny guy singing "I Fought the Law," on countless teen dance TV shows, and radio playlists. Ruled a suicide, his death has haunted investigators (and biographers Miriam Linna and Randall Fuller) since 1966. "Some resolution would be nice," Prophet says, "but I run a band, not a Cold Case squad."

Band : The Real McKenzies
Album : Two Devils Will Talk
VÖ : 03.03.2017
Label : Fat Wreck Chords / Edel
Bandwebsite : http://www.realmckenzies.com/

It I can be said, without any exaggeration, that The Real McKenzies are a national treasure.
Founded in 1992 by the larger than life, punkrock poet laureate, Mr Paul McKenzie, this merry band of miscreants has spent a quarter century circumnavigating the globe to bring the McKenzies gospel to an ever-adoring throng of rebels, scallywags and ne'er do wells. There's not many bands that can boast of a twenty five year career as staggeringly adventurous, wildly tempestuous and utterly death-defying as The Real McKenzies. It would be a serious mistake to write them off as just another Celtic punk band. They are an unstoppable juggernaut of touring mayhem. A ferocious troupe of insanely talented minstrels, storytellers and entertainers melding traditional acoustic and electric to create a sound like no other. Their list of accolades is long. From sharing the stage with the likes of NOFX, Rancid, Flogging Molly, Metallica and Shane McGowan to appearing in film, books and video games to signing with the legendary Fat Wreck Chords, their story continues to astound.

And now, to celebrate their landmark twenty-fifth anniversary, The Real McKenzies return with their 10th and very best long-player to date. And that's not hyperbole. This is an absolutely monumental giant of an album. "Two Devils Will Talk" is fourteen tracks of pure, unbridled audio bliss. The songs are rebellious, poignant and achingly heartfelt with an extra helping of Scottish charm and wit to boot. The recurring and very timely themes of "Two Devils Will Talk" are hope, perseverance and living your life to its fullest. Opening track "Due West" is an anthemic epic about moving forward and never looking back, while "Seafarers" is a rollicking tale that deals with accepting the fact that you can't change how the waves roll, only how you roll through them. There's even a glorious cover of Stan Rogers' "Northwest Passage" and a spectacular reworking of "Scots Wha Ha'e" (one of the first ever Real McKenzies recordings). "Two Devils Will Talk" sees a resilient, triumphant and defiantly hopeful band at the very top of their game.

You may be asking yourself; how do I get in on what will surely be the party of the century? Well, fear not true believers, The McKenzies' ship will be embarking on massive tours across USA , Europe and Canada to bring the celebration to a stage near you in 2017. So raise a glass, raise a fist, or better yet, raise a little hell for twenty-five years of The Real McKenzies, and another one still for many more happy years to come!

Band : The Sadies
Album : Northern Passages
VÖ : 10.02.2017
Label : Dine Alone Records
Bandwebsite : www.thesadies.net

The cover of The Sadies' new album is a powerful image of the northern lights made by photographer David Kilabuk in Pangnirtung, Nunavut, a sight few of us will ever get to behold with our own eyes. Yet, the awe-inspiring natural beauty and mystery captured in the photo are an ideal reflection of the music contained within. No further embellishment seems necessary.

That's been the essence of The Sadies' story ever since the quartet comprised of singer/guitarists Dallas and Travis Good, bassist Sean Dean and drummer Mike Belitsky first exploded onto the North American scene 20 years ago. Back then there was still something called "alt-country," a catchall for artists striving to carry on traditions with punk rock attitude. The Sadies certainly fit that description, but the breadth of their skills and musical knowledge was unparalleled since a group of fellow Torontonians left Ronnie Hawkins in the mid-'60s to take a job backing Bob Dylan.

As the aurora borealis shifted with each album The Sadies made, the overall picture took on more defined colours. On top of that was the incredible list of collaborations--Neko Case, R&B legend Andre Williams, The Mekons' Jon Langford, Jon Spencer, Robyn Hitchcock, John Doe, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Gord Downie, Neil Young for fuck's sake!--each one pushing The Sadies' own sound into new, unmapped territory. Eventually, more time was taken in between albums as focus shifted to their original songwriting, and what was once the best live band in Canada became the best band in Canada, period.

Band : The Menzingers
Album : After The Party
VÖ : 03.02.2017
Label : Epitaph Records / Indigo
Bandwebsite : www.themenzingers.com

For their fifth full-length After the Party, The Menzingers set out to make the quintessential jukebox record: an unstoppably melodic album primed for bar-room sing-alongs. Delivering anthemic harmonies, furious power chords, and larger-than-life melodies, the Philadelphia-based garage-punk four-piece amply fulfills that mission while achieving something much more deeply nuanced. With its delicately crafted storytelling and everyman romanticism, After the Party ultimately proves to be a wistful but life-affirming reflection on getting older but not quite growing up.

"We spent our 20s living in a rowdy kind of way, and now we're at a point where it seems like everyone in our lives is moving in different directions," says Tom May, who joined fellow singer/guitarist Greg Barnett, bassist Eric Keen, and drummer Joe Godino in forming The Menzingers as teenagers in their hometown of Scranton. Adds Barnett: "We're turning 30 now, and there's this idea that that's when real life comes on. In a way this album is us saying, 'We don't have to grow up or get boring--we can keep on having a good time doing what we love.'"

The Menzingers explore the tension between recklessness and responsibility all throughout After the Party, with the chorus to its opening track "20's (Tellin' Lies)" brashly asking "Where are we gonna go now that our twenties are over?" On lead single "Lookers"--as in, "You were such a looker in the old days"--the band pays loving tribute to their time spent in Asbury Park, weaving in memories of smoke-filled diners and Jersey-girl heartbreakers. Equally soaked in nostalgia, the bittersweet yet blistering "Midwestern States" offers what Barnett calls "an ode to being in our early 20s and touring across the country for the first time, and just how eye-opening that all was for us." On "Bad Catholics," meanwhile, The Menzingers match their heavy riffs and high-powered rhythms with a gorgeously detailed narrative of running into a lost love at a hometown church picnic.

Band : The Desoto Caucus
Album : 4
VÖ : 27.01.2017
Label/Vertrieb : Glitterhouse / Indigo
Bandwebsite : www.desotocaucus.com

"There's still the solid, liquid grooves made up of Peter's rolling beats and dry percussion, perfectly matched by the rock steady flexibility of Henrik on Bass, the boiling organ, pensive piano and twang guitar of Nikolaj Heyman with the signature dual lead vocals he shares with me" sagt Hauptsongwriter Anders Pedersen über "4".

Band : Vitja
Album : Digital Love
VÖ : 03.03.2017
Label : Century Media Records / People Like You
Website : www.facebook.com/vitjaband

VITJA's fortunate 2013 inception can be traced to four different bands. But it's not the past that's exciting about the Germans. It's the present and what VITJA will bring in the future. Based in Cologne, the quartet, whose name is Russian shortform for 'Viktor', which translates to 'Victor' or 'Winner' in English, hit the ground running by inking a deal with German indie Redfield Records. The same year they signed on the dotted line, VITJA released their debut album, "Echoes". Described by the press as "awe-inspiring", "progressive", and "techy", "Echoes" quickly catapulted the Germans to the very top of the Djent movement. The group's follow-up EP, "Your Kingdom", was equally heralded by critics and fans as "memorable" and "energetic" in 2015. The successes of "Echoes" and "Your Kingdom" landed VITJA high-profile shows and tours with Callejon, Bring Me The Horizon, Bury Tomorrow, Caliban, Iwrestledabearonce and Nasty.
But hold on a minute. Ask VITJA frontman David Beule if the group find their solace in Djent's slow-motion staccato arms, and he's likely to laugh heartily. He calls VITJA's music "metal-rock". No more descriptors or sub-categories given or asked. To wit, since forming three scant years ago, the songwriters in VITJA are inspired not by a single movement or band or instrument choice--guitarist Vladimir Dontschenko plays an 8-string guitar and bassist Mario Metzler a 6-string bass--but by everything they enjoy. Music, art, film, etc. "We're getting our Influences from everywhere," asserts Dontschenko. "There are so many good bands and loads of great genres. It would be dumb to pick just one or two of them and forget about the rest. Music has no limits and we will include everything that inspires us and conveys any kind of emotion."
Which brings us to VITJA's new album--their first since signing to Century Media Records/People Like You Records--"Digital Love". More than a year separates "Your Kingdom" from "Digital Love". During that time, the Germans focused heavily on refining their craft, experimenting with new ideas, and writing an album that is indicative of VITJA's upward and onward musical trajectory. Eleven songs. All of them, from the white-hot rage of opener "SCUM" to the rhythmic insanity of closer "The Flood", are tried and true VITJA, with the exception that they're coming into their own as songwriters. And lyric writers, too. "Every song on the record has a different topic," Beule reveals. "Just see through the metaphors. But, in the end, they're all leading to the same point or ending. The search for a good feeling or ending, for happiness, and simply the best that everyone deserves. No matter what the situation. For the search of love. Today, pretty much all we are is digital, the most important things to us are mostly digital and about love. That's what it is. "Digital Love"."

Band : Royal Wood
Album : Ghost Light
VÖ : 27.01.2017
Label : Outside Music / H'Art
Website : www.royalwood.ca

One of the most accomplished singer songwriters in Canada, Royal Wood takes on the world with the release of his new album GHOST LIGHT on Outside Music, available January 27, 2017.

The journey to GHOST LIGHT started years ago on a small farm in rural Ontario, Canada. While his family tended cattle, Royal, at the age of 4 was more interested in any instrument he could get his hands on than bales of hay. His parents recognized his prodigious talent and enrolled him in music studies. "As a shy kid, growing up on farmland in the middle of nowhere allowed me to escape to the open spaces to learn music and dream without the noise of the city life". When it came time, Royal left the family homestead to atte nd university in Montreal where between studies, he fine-tuned his skills by becoming the house piano player at some of the classic Montreal jazz clubs and performing Dylan inspired folk songs in coffee houses.

Realizing the Montreal jazz bars and coffee houses weren't opening many doors for him, Royal headed west to Toronto to realize his dream as a singer songwriter. To pay the bills as a beginning musician, Royal found himself in the towers of Bay Street. In typical Royal fashion, he went from a trader's assistant to a Senior FX Trader in a very short time. With his days spent immersed in the FX market to pay his rent, Royal continued to write and record his music at night and perform everywhere and anywhere - releasing his debut album Tall Tales and touring all over Canada. "At no time in my life did I ever want to be an FX trader, but looking back it was the best thing that could have ever happened. It gave me business acumen, money to pay for my first albums, tours and publicist, and basically fund my dream until it became a reality". The critical acclaim that greeted Tall Tales encouraged Royal to record the follow-up A Good Enough Day and more importantly, it lead him to finally quit the day job and focus on his destiny.

The accolades began to pour in, multiple Juno Award nominations, being named iTunes Songwriter of the Year, as well as opportunities to tour with Sarah Harmer, My Morning Jacket, and Hawksley Workman. Royal Wood, had gone from a farm boy musical prodigy to the chaotic lifestyle of a FX trader, to one of Canada's most acclaimed performers, producers and songwriters. All in a very short time. In 2013, Royal, split from his wife, headed overseas, unplugged and tucked himself away in a rustic cottage outside the Village of Slane, Ireland. With that isolation, Royal wrote the album that was to become The Burning Bright. An album which spawned the radio hit "Forever & Ever" and broke Royal's career wide open in Canada.

Band : Robin tom Rink
Album : The Small Hours
VÖ : 13.01.2017
Label / Vertrieb : RtR / Make My Day Records / Indigo

Band : Brutus
Album : Burst
VÖ : 03.02.2017
Label : Hassle Records / Soulfood
Website : www.brutusband.com

Stefanie Mannaerts - drums / vocals
Stijn Vanhoegaerden - guitar
Peter Mulders - bass

Brutus rage like a maelstrom. They are a meteor shower of sound. This trio from Leuven, Belgium create expansive, stratospheric punk quite unlike any other band around.

Here the searing, soaring guitars of shoegaze are amped up to hardcore punk speed, drums gallop like wild horses over open larval planes and drumming singer Stefanie Mannaerts offers some of the most impassioned vocals heard in recent times, capable of shifting from deceptively melodic to out-right larynx-punishing in the blink of an eye.

With post-rock construction, black metal dynamics, hardcore energy, prog and math-rock flourishes and pure pop melodies all detectible on their debut album Burst, Brutus manage to straddle the significant divide between Slayer and Savages, The Smiths and Slowdive, Dillinger Escape Plan and Deus - and all with just three members expertly colluding to make a sound as monolithic as it is emotive.

Bear witness to strident album opener 'March', a melodic blast of pure metallic energy that recalls the effervescent musical acrobatics of At The Drive-In full flight, or roaring lead single 'All Along', whose initial 4/4 beat belies an anthem that shows that Brutus write gargantuan songs too. Underground punk dudes they may be, but they have one eye on a world beyond the DIY scene that spawned them. Elsewhere 'Looking For Love On Devil's Mountain' is thunderously melodic and closer 'Child' a thing of shimmering glacial beauty; part Mogwai-esque monumental musical work-out, part ethereal and elegiac (and ultimately frantic) punk rock epic.

Band : Wesley Stace
Album : Wesley Stace's John Wesley Harding
VÖ : 24.02.2017
Label : Yep Roc Records
Bandwebsite : wesleystace.com

"Self-Titled would be one of the best albums in John Wesley Harding's quarter-century career if it weren't the debut album from Wesley Stace." - The Philadelphia Inquirer

Acclaimed singer/songwriter Wesley Stace will release Wesley Stace's John Wesley Harding on February 24, 2017 via Yep Roc Records. Recorded with The Jayhawks--Gary Louris, Marc Perlman, Tim O'Reagan, and Karen Grotberg--at Flowers Studio in Minneapolis, the album was co-produced by Stace and Gary Louris.

Listen/share the first track "Let's Evaporate," written with Chas Cronk from the Strawbs, one of Stace's favorite bands.

The album features 12 tracks chosen for these sessions by Stace, who says, "I always have a lot of songs, so I listened to every unused song I had, many of them quite recent, and picked 11 that I thought The Jayhawks (or The Wezhawks, as we started to call it) would sound great on. I also included a cover, "Don't Turn Me Loose," which is where the idea of our making a record together had originated: I saw them live and thought they'd sound great playing that song, and then I thought: and I should be singing it! And they liked the idea. And we did these twelve songs, and that's it. Everything we recorded is on the record. No outtakes."

The second album under his real name, the album's title was chosen for a myriad of reasons including a) the urge to bring all of his art under one banner, b) Jeff Lynne's ELO, and c) various cab ride conversations. All is revealed in the sleeve note.

Band : VAL SINESTRA
Album : Unter Druck
VÖ : 24.02. 2017
Label : Concrete Jungle / Edel
Website : http://valsinestra.net/
