Nachdem THE ACES vor wenigen Tagen ihr Debütalbum "When My Heart Felt Volcanic" für den 6. April bei Red Bull Records angekündigt haben und auch gleich den neuen Song "Volcanic Love" präsentierten, folgt nun das Video zur Single.
Der von Nico Poatillo und THE ACES-Schlagzeugerin Alisa Ramirez produzierte Clip zeigt die bandeigenen Interpretationen von einigen ikonischen Liebesgeschichten wie die in "Great Gatsby", "Heathers", "500 Days Of Summer", "Across The Universe" und "Comet".

ALBERT HAMMOND JR - Neuer Song “Far Away Truths“ / Album FRANCIS TROUBLE am 09.03.2018 (Red Bull Records/Sony)

(February 16, 2018)- Earlier this month Albert Hammond Jr announced his fourth studio album Francis Trouble. The album will be available globally on March 9th but today fans can preorder the album and get instant downloads of the tracks ‘Far Away Truths’ and ‘Muted Beatings.’
Stream ‘Far Away Truths’
Francis Trouble explores a deeply personal topic – the stillborn death of his twin brother, Francis, and the lingering effects that event has had in his life and music. In November of 1979, Hammond Jr’s mother, Claudia, miscarried. Although they rushed to the hospital, Claudia and Albert Hammond Sr. were told that the baby was far too premature to live. Albert continued to grow inside of his mother undetected until she was nearly six months pregnant.
Although he had always known of the existence of Francis, it was not until he was 36 years old that he learned from an aunt that part of Francis had remained behind in the womb and was born alongside him – a fingernail. With his music moving in a different path than before, Hammond Jr wondered if this new direction came from another avenue of himself, perhaps emanating from whatever he and the departed Francis had shared for the few short months they had together.
Taking a page from Bowie, Hammond Jr says: “What the music says may be serious, but as a medium it should not be questioned, analyzed or taken too seriously. I think it should be tarted up, made into a character, a parody of itself. The music is the mask the message wears and I, the performer, am the message.”
Working within this mentality, Hammond Jr created Francis Trouble, an homage to both the death of his twin and his own birth, as well as the complexities of identity that arise because of their intermingling. The number 36 became especially relevant, as he had learned more of Francis’s story at that age, and because he was born on the 9th day of the 4th month of the year. Significantly, the album is exactly 36 minutes long.
In celebration of Francis Trouble Albert just wrapped up a US tour with The Killers and is currently on the road overseas with Franz Ferdinand which will be followed by a US headlining tour. A full list of dates can be found below.

Die Konzerte werden ganz im Zeichen ihres neuen und selbstbetitelten Albums, welches morgen, am 16. Februar, via Rise Records erscheinen wird. Die Single "The World Is Blue" steht bereits als Stream bereit.
"American Nightmare" wurde im Mystic Valley Recording Studio in Boston, Massachussetts, von Schlagzeuger Alex Garcia-Rivera aufgenommen, der gemeinsam mit Sänger Wes Eishold, Bassist Josh Holden und Gitarrist Brian Masek das Original-Line-Up von 2004 bildet - als sich die Band aufgelöst beziehungsweise als GIVE UP THE GHOST weitergemacht hat. Es ist außerdem das erste Album, an dessen Entstehung alle Bandmitglieder gleichermaßen beteiligt waren.

Die GRAMMY-Award-Gewinner und mehrfach mit Platin ausgezeichneten Künstler BEN HARPER und CHARLIE MUSSELWHITE werden am 30. März via ANTI- Records ihr neues Album "No Mercy In This Land" veröffentlichen. Es ist ihre erste Kollaboration seit "Get Up!" (2013), welches damals auf Platz 1 der Billboard Blues Album Charts gekommen ist und 2014 obendrein GRAMMY-Award für "Best Blues Album" gewonnen hat.
Nach dem Titeltrack "No Mercy In This Land" steht nun auch der Song "Found The One“ zum Anhören bereit.

Im Vergleich mit den komplexen, oft von einer gewissen Düsternis durchzogenen Vorgängern Heavy Flowers und Promises Of No Man’s Land, klingt _UP_ wesentlich unbeschwerter und zugänglicher. Blaudzun räumte seiner Vorliebe für den gepflegten, aber dennoch keineswegs simplen Popsong, mehr Raum ein und komponierte alle neuen Songs nur auf einem Piano, begleitet von seiner Stimme, stets geprägt durch eine catchy Melodie.

KIM RICHEY - Neues Album "Edgeland" am 30.03. via Yep Roc Records
Die Sängerin und Songschreiberin KIM RICHEY hat für den 30.03. den Release ihres neuen Albums "Edgeland" bei Yep Roc Records angekündigt. Die Veröffentlichung ihres letzten Longplayers "Thorn In My Heart" liegt inzwischen fast fünf Jahre zurück.
Edgeland moves roots singer/subtle excavator of the human condition Kim Richey through the topography of the life lived by a woman committed to following her music. Flinching over hurting another, knowing the ways of the road, seeking higher ground and accepting the fact everyone’s truth isn’t a white picket fence, she continues defying labels as she defines the thinking person’s life.
“Right now, my stuff is all in storage,” she says of her state of constant motion. “I’ve lived in a lot of different places – different countries even. It’s a little overwhelming, keeping track of stuff, but it’s been an amazing trip because music has taken me places I never dreamed. “I’m the same way with writing. Even when I’ve finished a record, or am in the middle of recording, I’m writing. Writing songs is what I do; it’s how I connect with the world.”
That sense of motion infuses Edgeland with immediacy. From the Buck Owens/Don Rich opening notes of “Red Line,” the dusky blond sweeps listeners up in her whirl. If “Red Line” is a missed train and a moment of immersion in the station, “The Get Together” shimmers with a Laurel Canyon lushness and ease in the awkward (that evokes J.D. Souther’s post-romantic midtempos) and “Can’t Seem To Let You Go” owns the ‘60s Merseybeat pop luxury of the Seekers or Dusty Springfield in Memphis. Demonstrating a facility for slipping in and out of oeuvres and emotions, this – in many ways -- culminates her passage through music.
Kim Richey is a traveller, after all. Musically, physically, emotionally. Not merely restless or rootless, it’s who she is. Willing to follow where the music leads, she’s landed in Los Angeles, Nashville, London, working with a who’s who of producers – Richard Bennett, Hugh Padgham, Bill Bottrell, Angelo, Giles Martin. She’s attracted a coterie of top-shelf genre-definers -- Jason Isbell, Trisha Yearwood, Chuck Prophet, My Morning Jacket’s Carl Broemel, Wilco’s Pat Sansone – for her critically-lauded projects. Die Düsseldorfer Band MASSENDEFEKT erlebt 2018 das wahrscheinlich aufregendste Jahr ihrer Karriere. Das neue, siebte Studioalbum PAZIFIK (VÖ: 16.02.2018) bringt die Stärken der Band auf den Punkt wie kein Vorgängeralbum. Massendefekt sind bei sich. Das Album ist gewohnt schnörkellos, klingt teilweise sogar wieder rauer (“Wo ich Dich finde“), kommt aber auch mit einer selbstbewussten Leichtigkeit und tanzbar wie noch nie daher (“In/die Hölle“). MAVIS STAPLES - "If All I Was Was Black"-Musikvideo
In honor of Black History Month, legendary soul singer Mavis Staples teaches how to look past skin color in the new video for her latest album’s titular track “If All I Was Was Black”.
"In 2017 I watched as all the Confederate monuments came down in New Orleans, but the conversation never arose as to what would replace them,” explained director Zac Manuel. “This video imagines a reality where we venerate people who are truly deserving of being immortalized in public spaces, a reality in which Black people can be proud to see themselves on pedestals in the air, cast in iron and stone. The intent of this video is to highlight black excellence, and to provoke and encourage a larger public appreciation of the labor - physical and emotional - the people of color often are expected to bear.”
The album If All I Was Was Black was produced by Jeff Tweedy and released in the fall of 2017 to much critical acclaim and late night appearances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Later… with Jools Holland and most recently a Martin Luther King Jr. Day performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

DIE NERVEN – Neuer Song online und eues Album FAKE am 20.04.

DIE NERVEN präsentieren mit "Niemals" die erste offizielle Single aus dem am 20.04. erscheinenden heißerwartenden neuen Studio-Album "Fake" (Glitterhouse/Indigo)..
Vor einigen Wochen erschien bereits mit “Frei“ eine erste Hörprobe.
“Mit Abstand hat uns kein Album so viel abverlangt wie dieses hier und wir können kaum erwarten es auf Euch los zu lassen“, reflektiert die Band und sagt, dass sie sich aufgrund des anstrengenden Entstehungsprozesses mehrere Male annähernd aufgelöst hätte.
Das neue Album FAKE entstand in Proberäumen, Studios und auf Theaterbühnen in Stuttgart, Leipzig und Berlin. Zusammen mit Produzent Ralv Milberg und seinem mobilen Studio samt Equipment, überquerten DIE NERVEN Ende 2017 gleich zwei Mal die Alpen, um ihr viertes Studioalbum in der Toskana aufzunehmen.
2010 in Esslingen als noisiges LoFi-Duo gegründet, veröffentlichen DIE NERVEN, nach diversen Singles, EPs und Download-Alben 2012 Fluidum, ihr erstes physisches Album auf Fin Du Monde/This Charming Man Records. 2014 erscheint mit Fun der einhellig bejubelte Nachfolger - und wird von Jan Wigger von Spiegel Online als "eine der wichtigsten und besten deutschsprachigen Platten dieses Jahrzehnts" bezeichnet, ”das vielleicht beste deutsche Trio seit Trio“ weiß der Wiener Standard.
Sie spielten u.a. Festivals wie Roskilde (DK), Melt!, Appletree-Garden, Sziget (HUN) und Eurosonic (NL), dazu eine Israel-Tour, und veröffentlichten als erste deutschsprachige Band auf dem stilprägenden US-amerikanischen Label Amphetamine Reptile Records.
Im Oktober 2015 releasen DIE NERVEN ihr drittes Album OUT auf Glitterhouse Records, gewinnen den VIA VUT Indie Awards in der Kategorie “Beste Band“, gehen auf ausgiebige Tour durch Europa und veröffentlichen im Juni 2017 ihre erste Live-Platte Live in Europa. Der TAZ Blog nennt die Band ”beste Liveband des Landes“!

Das PUNK ROCK HOLIDAY in Tolmin (Slowenien) ist mehr als nur irgendein Festival. Gerade einmal zehn Stunden hat es gedauert, bis nicht nur die siebte Ausgabe, sondern auch die diesjährige achte ausverkauft war - und das ein Jahr im Voraus und ohne bisheriger Band-Bestätigungen. Der Beweis, dass das PUNK ROCK HOLIDAY mittlerweile zu einem der Events in Europa geworden ist, das vor allem Menschen, die sich nicht mit 08/15-Festivals zufrieden geben, kaum erwarten können.

RAFIQ BHATIA (SON LUX) - Solo-Album "Breaking English" am 06.04. bei Anti- Records / "Hoods Up"-Stream / Zwei Deutschland-Konzerte im April
New York composer and guitarist Rafiq Bhatia seeks to shatter preconceptions about how much can be said without a word—and, for that matter, who can say it. Breaking English, Bhatia’s audacious instrumental first album for ANTI- Records sets out to challenge existing musical vocabulary with a language of its own. Listen to debut track “Hoods Up” HERE. Breaking English will be released on April 6.
“‘Hoods Up’ was the first track I started on Breaking English, and one of the last ones I finished,” explained Bhatia. “Years in the making, with multiple discarded versions littering the path to completion, the piece is the result of me trying to push myself beyond my limits. That required wading into uncharted territory, but it also meant accepting myself for who I am. I think the music carries some of the struggle of its creation with it.”
Bhatia is the first-generation American son of Muslim immigrant parents who trace their ancestry to India by way of East Africa. Early influences such as Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane, and Madlib—as well as mentors and collaborators including Vijay Iyer and Billy Hart—prompted him to see music as a way to actively shape and represent his own identity, not limited by anyone else’s prescribed perspective.

Der Song entstammt ihrem dritten Album "Always Foreign", welches im September vergangenen Jahres bei Epitaph Records erschienen ist und vom bandeigenem Gitarristen Christopher Teti produziert wurde.
Außerdem werden TWIABP in Begleitung von KAMIKAZE GIRLS im März durch Europa touren - mit sechs Stopps in Deutschland und Österreich:
