Ursprünglich erschien die Compilation bereits 1991 auf CD und erreichte rund um die Welt Multiplatin-Auszeichnungen. Es hielt sich über zwei Jahre in den UK-Charts und ist eine der meistverkauften Compilations aller Zeiten.

39 Songs inkl. ein neuer Track - Doppel CD / Vinyl
THE DAMNED kündigen für den 1. November ein 39 Songs starkes Best-Of-Album "Black Is The Night (The Definitive Anthology)" auf BMG an, inkl. einem brandneuen aufgenommenen Song.
THE DAMNED gründeten sich 1976 in London und gelten als die erste britische Punk-Band, die Studiomaterial veröffentlichte. Zudem absolvierten die Briten ihr erstes Konzert mit den SEX PISTOLS. Das letzte Studioalbum "Evil Spirits", produziert von TONY VISCONTI (U2, DAVID BOWIE, THE BOOMTOWN RATS, etc.), erreichte im letzten Jahr den siebten Platz der UK-Album-Charts.
Das Artwork der Song-Sammlung kreierte der Künstler PHIL SMEE, der bereits für Größen wie MOTÖRHEAD, ELTON JOHN und MADNESS arbeitete. SMEE kommentiert die Zusammenarbeit mit der Band:
“I loved working with the band back in the 80’s and I like to think we came up with some iconic designs. Certainly I see the many Damned logos I came up with still used on t-shirts to this day. I’ve not cut corners with this new album, even setting all the sleeve copy by hand, which took me back to ‘The Black Album’ which I hand-lettered with a shaky pen. The Damned are a totally unique band, I’ve always loved everything they’ve done. I still get excited about every design project that comes along, but I was particularly pleased to be asked to work on The Damned’s ‘Black is the Night’ album.”

Neue SON LITTLE EP Im Oktober, neues Album Anfang 2020
Der US Songwriter SON LITTLE veröffentlicht am 11.10. die EP "Invisible" auf ANTI Records, das erste Video zu dem Song hey rose ist bereits online. Der Song verbindet lässigen Soul, old-school R&B Sounds mit funkigen Pop-Elementen, aufgenommen wurde er in Paris mit Producer Renaud Letang (Feist, Manu Chao).
SON LITTLE kollaborierte bereits mit Acts wie The Roots, Portugal. The Man, RJD2, tourte mit Mumford & Sons, Leon Bridges, Curtis Harding und gewann einen Grammy Award als Producer des Mavis Staples Songs “See That My Grave Is Kept Clean“.
Am 16.10. weilt er in Berlin um sein neues, für Anfang 2020 geplantes Album zu promoten.

For The Good Ones’ new album, Rwanda, You Should Be Loved, bandleader Adrien Kazigira composed over forty songs. Most were meditations on his now thirteen-year-old daughter, Marie-Claire, and the life-threatening tumor that has afflicted her left-eye. The recording was done live without overdubs on Adrien’s farm and was imbued with the passing of producer Ian Brennan’s mother during the days that they were there together as well as a former founding band member recently having succumbed to his own demons.
The Good Ones renown is evidenced by the stellar musicians who collaborated with them on the new album: Wilco’s Nels Cline, TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe, Sleater-Kinney’s Corin Tucker, My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields, and Fugazi’s Joe Lally. In 2009, Grammy-winner Brennan (Tinariwen, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Zomba Prison Project) traveled to Rwanda in search of local music with his Italian-Rwandan wife, filmmaker and photographer, Marilena Delli. After two weeks of crisscrossing the country and listening to countless artists, they met The Good Ones.

Vagabon ändert den Titel ihres kommenden Albums: statt wie bisher "All the Women in Me" ist das Werk nun selbstbetitelt, "Vagabon" also, außerdem erscheint es nun ein wenig später, am 18. Oktober statt wie ursprünglich angesetzt am 27. September. Der Grund für die Titeländerung ist nicht etwa, dass Lætitia Tamko alias Vagabon diesen nicht mehr mochte, sondern, ganz im Gegenteil, damit einen Wunsch der Urheberin respektiert:
"My original album title and two lyrics were inspired by and referenced poetry by a writer I greatly admire, Nayyirah Waheed", so Tamko in einem Statement. "When I learned that she preferred I not quote her words, I made changes out of respect for her wishes."
Von den Änderungen betroffen ist auch die zuvor veröffentlichte Lead-Single des Albums "Flood Hands", die nunmehr "Flood" heißt (zu hören unten). Außerdem wurde der Song "All The Women” in “Every Woman” geändert und einige Lyrics in beiden Songs angepasst.
"Vagabon" folgt auf das 2017 veröffentlichte Debütalbum "Infinite Worlds" der in Kamerun geborenen und in New York lebende Künstlerin. Das Werk ist künstlerisch ein großer Satz nach vorn für Lætitia Tamko, die das gesamte Album schrieb und produzierte. An die Stelle Gitarren-getriebener Melodien treten diesmal gekreuzte analoge und digitale Arrangements. Hatte "Infinite Worlds“ das Vagabon-Projekt noch im Bereich "Indie-Rock“ verortet, lässt sich "Vagabon" nicht so leicht festlegen. Zusammengehalten von Tamkos ausdrucksstarker Stimme und ihrem Händchen für besondere Melodien, wandert das Album zwischen den Genres hin und her, nie allzu lang an einem Ort verweilend.
Im Herbst spielt Vagabon Headliner-Shows in New York, Los Angeles, London, Brüssel, Paris sowie Berlin (23.10., Kantine am Berghain),

Since forming as teenagers in 2006, The Menzingers have shown their strength as rough-and-tumble storytellers, turning out songs equally rooted in frenetic energy and lifelike detail. On their new album Hello Exile, the Philadelphia-based punk band take their lyrical narrative to a whole new level and share their reflections on moments from the past and present: high-school hellraising, troubled relationships, aging and alcohol and political ennui. And while their songs often reveal certain painful truths, Hello Exile ultimately maintains the irrepressible spirit that’s always defined the band.
The sixth full-length from The Menzingers, Hello Exile arrives as the follow-up to After the Party: a 2017 release that landed on best-of-the-year lists from outlets like Clash and Noisey, with Stereogum praising its “almost unfairly well-written punk songs.” In creating the album, the band again joined forces with producer Will Yip (Mannequin Pussy, Quicksand), spending six weeks recording at Yip’s Conshohocken, PA-based Studio 4. “That’s the longest amount of time we’ve ever worked with Will,” notes Barnett. “We wanted to make sure these stories didn’t get lost in the music, so we kept it to a lot of room sounds with the guitar and bass and drums.”

‘We felt like we created a masterpiece'
There’s no mucking about from Raised Fist frontman Alexander ‘Alle’ Hagman when he’s asked for his feelings on the band’s new studio album Anthems. The songs on the Swedish quintet’s seventh album are delivered with a searing urgency and intent.
‘We have worked much harder on this album than ever before. By a large margin. Drums and vocals have, for the first time in our career, been given exactly the space and time needed to get to the same level as the music and melodies’ Hagman says.
‘Right at this time, we're actually producing something that has a new sound.’
Raised Fist wanted to focus their efforts on just ten tracks to keep the album short and sweet and the intention clear. Hagman explains: “After our inventory of the material, we quickly found that we had rough foundations for ten songs. We made the decision right there and then, that this particular album would build on these ten foundations and them alone. If a song suddenly appeared later in the writing process, and sounded damn good, it would still have to knock another song off the album, not be added to the album. We've never done anything like this before and the quality is a big step-up from the things we’ve made in the past.’

Einige Welttourneen fühlen sich an wie eine Ehrenrunde. Am 25. August 2017 betraten The Sherlocks die NME/Radio 1 Bühne des Reading & Leeds Festivals und kündigten vor vollem Haus überglücklich an, dass ihr Debütalbum "Live For The Moment" an diesem Tag auf Nummer 6 in der britischen Album-Charts eingestiegen sei.
Ende 2018 juckte es The Sherlocks in den Fingern und sie kehrten ins Studio zurück. Im Gegensatz zu den Aufnahmen für ihr Debütalbum, welches in nächtlichen Sessions in den abgelegenen, ländlichen Rockfields in Wales aufgenommen wurde, entschieden sie sich diesmal für eine Aufnahme in den Parr Street Studios in Liverpool. Mit James Skelly am Mischpult wurde hier in den vier Wochen vor Weihnachten tagtäglich an der Platte gefeilt, jedoch um 18 Uhr alles stehen und liegen gelassen, um in der Stadt bei einem Bier und einer Runde Snooker den Arbeitstag Revue passieren zu lassen. Das Ergebnis ist eine knackigere, fröhlichere, hochmoderne Alternative-Rock-Platte, die von Skellys Talent profitierte, sich einem Killer-Chorus zu widmen, der weniger an althergebrachte Indie-Helden erinnert, sondern mit Anleihen des New Wave der 80er und All-Out-Feedback Passagen aufwartet . Sie klingt nach den Killers, Cars, High Flying Birds and Two Door Cinema Club, genauso wie nach Catfish. Eine echte Gitarrenrock-Platte des 21. Jahrhunderts.

Featuring tracks from each of their 12 studio albums, it is the first ever collection to actually be sanctioned by the band, but also compiled by Thunder themselves. The tracks chosen for ‘The Greatest Hits’ shows perfectly the arc of evolution that the band has travelled over three decades, developing, challenging themselves and always moving on: without ever losing the core elements that make them special. ‘The Greatest Hits’ will be released in four formats: 2CD, expanded 3CD [featuring a live session recorded and streamed at the Planet Rock studio on 18 Jan 2019], 3LP and Digital. The gear and instruments are mostly 1950s and 60s, but while the tones may be classic, we’ve always tried to push into uncharted territory musically with each release. So the idea behind this record was to create our version of what someone might imagine future rock ’n’ roll sounding like, but from the perspective of the mid-20th century.”
Brimming with vintage fuzz, tape echo and reverb, the album’s thirteen tracks weave stylistically through vintage punk, garage and rock ’n’ roll, while still maintaining a curious modernity as influences from Latin music to surf shoot through like satellites in the night sky. Present as always are the band’s signature melodicism and 13’s ethereal vocals.

"White Xmas Lies" ist Magne Furuholmens drittes Soloalbum und, wie der Titel schon andeutet, ein etwas anderes Weihnachtsalbum. Ein melancholisches Winteralbum, bestehend aus 14 neuen Eigenkompositionen und zwei überraschenden Coverversionen.
Furuholmen, Mitglied der legendären 80er-Band a-ha und Co-Komponist etlicher ihrer Hits, etwa auch "Take On Me“, sagte, er wolle ein Album als Gegengift zu der "schmalzigen Weihnachtsmusik machen, die jedes Jahr veröffentlicht wird, einem scheinbar endlosen Strom kitschiger Versionen bekannter Weihnachtslieder.“
"Ich habe das Glück, eine Familie um mich zu haben, aber für viele Menschen ist Weihnachten eine harte Zeit und weckt eher Erinnerungen an Verlust, Sehnsucht und verkrüppelnde Einsamkeit. Ich wollte versuchen, ein Album zu machen, das auch für diejenigen von Bedeutung ist, die außerhalb unseres kommerziellen Weihnachtsrummels existieren - ein Album, das die melancholischeren, dunkleren Seiten von Weihnachten betrachtet: zerbrochene Familien, Dinge, die wir unter den Teppich kehren, verborgener Groll hinter falschem Lachen – eher ein Album für die echte Einkehr zu den Feiertagen als nur sentimentale Dekorationsbeschallung. Der Kieler pflügt sich gemeinsam mit seiner Band quer durch das hauseigene Repertoire und präsentiert essentielle Songs der Bandgeschichte in sympathisch ungeschminkter Form. Live und direkt, dennoch in Studio-Qualität.
Der raue, vielseitige Rockansatz in deutscher Sprache, den ERIK COHEN seit jeher repräsentiert, rückt ungeschminkt unmittelbarer in den Fokus. Wer sich fragte, wie die vielschichtig instrumentierten Songs der Alben "Nostalgie Für Die Zukunft“, "Weißes Rauschen“ und "III“ auf der Bühne auf einen gemeinsamen Sound-Nenner gebracht werden, erhält hier die Antwort. “In a post-modern society where logic is generally valued over the metaphysical, music is one of those mysteries that slipped through the cracks.”
Like so many young people, in 2019 the members of Swedish Death Candy find themselves living in a state of uncertainty, not just in reference to the obvious current political unrest in the UK. The London-based international acid rockers are gearing up for the release of their forthcoming second album Are You Nervous?, and it’s playing on their minds. “Environmental issues, technological advances...it feels like we’re on the brink of massive change,” says front man Louis Perry, “Are You Nervous? felt like an appropriate title.”
Completed by guitarist Francesco Codardo, bassist Jiwoon Whang, and drummer Marco Ninni, on the new album the band were able to spend much more time considering individual sounds and how they fit within the sonic spectrum, hand-selecting the perfect tone for each moment. “To use a painting metaphor,” says Perry, “it felt like each brush stroke and colour combination was considered, as opposed to the first record, which was more like a photograph in that it was an attempt to capture the energy of a moment.” Recorded with Tobin Jones and assistant engineer Lucas Mendez at The Park Studios in Wembley, it’s a deeper delve into the band’s sprawling cultural influences than they’ve ever committed to tape previously. “Tobin’s an awesome producer/engineer and a wicked guy all round,” says Perry. “His approach is aimed at producing the album the artist wants to hear and creating something unique.”

IVY CROWN ist ein melodisches Metalcore-Quartett, das aus den kalten Straßen von Kopenhagen, Dänemark, stammt. Fesselnder Gesang, knappe Kompositionen und ein harter Sound sind die Zutaten für ihr Debütalbum. Diese Mädels sind darauf ausgerichtet, die Welt zu erobern und Nacken krachen zu lassen.
IVY CROWN ist aus der Asche von Taras erwachsen, einer bekannten dänischen Punkrockband, die in ganz Dänemark und Großbritannien auftrat, mit Arena-Shows und einer eigenen Episode im dänischen Fernsehen, DR.
Nach der Veröffentlichung ihrer Lead-Single "Lonesome and Cold" im Februar 2019, die mittlerweile mehr als 180.000 Streams erreicht hat, wird das Quartett sein Debütalbum im Jahr 2019 über Long Branch Records veröffentlichen. Ein faszinierende Platte über die Befreiung von giftigen Beziehungen und den Einsatz für sich selbst, aber auch über das Wachsen mit jeder Niederlage, die man einsteckt.
Das Debütalbum wird von Chris Kreutzfeldt (Cabal) aufgenommen und produziert und mit Unterstützung der Gesangsproduktion von Mirza Radonjica-Bang (Siamese). Das Album enthält Auftritte von Kadeem France (Loathe), Kim Song Sternkopf (MØL) und Jesper Gün (Ghost Iris) - talentierte Menschen, die die Vision der Band für das Album sehr gut ergänzen.

Vor langer Zeit verdingten sich Friseure als Chirurgen, boten Aderlass, das Ziehen von Zähnen sowie das Schneiden der Gesichtsbehaarung an. Die Cutthroat Brothers mögen buchstäblich keinen Aderlass auslösen, aber sie tun es im übertragenen Sinne auf ihren Alben und Live-Auftritten.
Das Duo aus echten Barbieren - Jason Cutthroat (Gesang, Gitarre) und Donny Paycheck (Schlagzeug) - erschafft einen blutigen und rohen Rock’n‘Roll, der - nicht anders als ihre mittelalterlichen Kollegen - keine Gefangenen nimmt. Sie tragen blutbefleckte weiße Kittel und sind mit dem Rasiermesser genauso geschickt wie mit Garagenpunk.
"Die klassische Bildsprache dessen, was ein Friseur ist, korreliert so gut mit der Musik", sagt Donny. "Wir halten es unkompliziert und so scharf wie möglich."
Jason und Donny spielten beide in lokalen Bands und lernten zunächst die Rockszene im pazifischen Nordwesten kennen, wobei Donny Paycheck als Mitgründer und jahrelanger Schlagzeuger der Band Zeke auch in Europa bekannt wurde.
Sie trafen sich Jahre später wieder. Nachdem Jason Washington gegen Hawaii eingetauscht hatte, verband sie zuerst die Liebe zu der Big Island, die Donny regelmäßig besuchte.

Walrus, the Halifax based, Britpop-indebted, garage-psych quartet, are excited to announce their new album Cool To Who, due October 18, 2019 on Outside Music. To ring in the announcement, the group has shared the video for the title track, “Cool To Who”, a song about “making plans in the night and not being able to keep them the morning,” says songwriter Justin Murphy.
The video, produced by At Land (Nicole Cecile Holland and Sarah Greenwood) with the support of the StanceEast car club, stars Jackson Briggs, a Halifax based music producer and degenerate Instagram comedian. The video concept was born from Holland’s obsession with internet photos of squat poses in front of cars.
Walrus are one of the best live bands on the planet. Okay, that may be a bit hyperbolic, and maybe a stretch, butit’s definitely not out an outlandish statement. See, for the past few years, Walrus, made up of two brothers and two pals from Truro, Nova Scotia, have been putting in the work at becoming the best live band on the planet.

Over a decade ago, four youngsters - barely 12 years old - started making music in a shabby rehearsal room, somewhere in Flanders’ Fields, Belgium. The music was loud, hard, and uncompromising. This was the very early beginnings for STAKE, under their long-term original band name ‘Steak Number Eight’,
At a ridiculous pace, the band kept producing new music and touring pretty relentlessly. Steak Number Eight had grown faster and bigger than they could have ever imagined: they were selling out Belgium’s biggest venues, played every serious rock festival across mainland Europe, and had been on the road supporting the likes of Mastodon, Dillinger Escape Plan, and Deftones.
No one expected Steak Number Eight to call it a day. And that was never the intention of the band, but the name now felt outdated despite being close to the band’s heart due to it’s reference to Brent’s older brother, who sadly passed away a couple of years ago. The band wanted to capture fresh creativity under a new name: STAKE. To “celebrate” the end for Steak Number Eight, two farewell shows were announced in their hometown of Ghent, and both sold out within a couple of hours – 2,400 concert tickets.
With the original line-up intact, they promised their metamorphosis would not simply be a change of name. Instead, STAKE is a brand new chapter with an unseen energy, producing a unique hyper atmospheric and grunge-influenced melodic post-metal.

Grade 2 understand that the first rule of punk rock is to make something happen.
Formed in Ryde on the Isle of Wight in 2013, when its members were schoolboys aged just 15, the three musicians quickly discovered that their options on a small island south of Southampton were limited. Casting their gaze upon wider horizons, the group boarded the Isle of Wight ferry for shows on the mainland, and, in time, concerts in continental Europe and, lately, the United States.
It was on one such jaunt that Grade 2 met Lars Frederiksen, the rhythm guitarist with, among others, Rancid. Himself no stranger to operating at the budget end of the touring market, Frederiksen looked at the English lads’ sense of derring-do and liked what he saw. The two parties became friends.
“We told him we were getting ready to do a new album,” says Jack Chatfield. “Originally he thought about producing it, but he said that he didn’t think he was that he was the right person for the job. But he told us to leave it with him, and then he came back to us and told us that he’d had a word with Tim...”

Growing up in the suburbs of Ontario, CA sisters Harmonie and Heaven Martinez have been playing music before they could walk and songwriting since middle school. It was when the two brought a few friends into the equation that they formed what is now a rock band they call Ariel View. With Harmonie Martinez (vocals/lead guitar), Heaven Martinez (vocals/bass), Miranda Viramontes (rhythm guitar), and Nadina Parra (drums), Ariel View have played countless DIY and club shows across Southern California. Influenced by garage, surf, psych rock, emo, and pop punk, Ariel View make music you can dance to, party to, sing along to, or maybe even cry to if that strikes the mood.
